Søren Nils Eichberg was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1973 and grew up in Denmark.

Composer
Since winning the first prize in the Queen Elisabeth International Competition for Composers in Brussels in 2001, Eichberg continuedly manifests his position as one of the leading composers of his generation. Other prizes and awards followed, such as the composition fellowship of the Tanglewood Music Festival (USA), the 3-year composition grant of the Danish Ministry of Culture, the composition stipend of the German Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation, the Civitella Ranieri Fellowship and the composition prize of the Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.

His works have been performed in most European countries as well as in Japan,
China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and the U.S. and have been radio broadcast in the USA and europewide.

Eichberg has received commissions by the International Piano Competition Ferruccio Busoni (I), the International ARD Music Competition (D), Ensemble Modern (D), Radio Symphony Orchestra Saarbrücken (D), The Viva Hall Cello Competition (J), The Tallin International Piano Festival (EE), Odense Symphony Orchestra (DK), the International Festival in Bergen (N), and the Danish National Radio..

A selection of his works is published by Universal Edition Wien.

Conductor
Eichberg studied orchestra conducting with Michael Luig at the Hochschule für Musik Köln and took courses and classes with Stefan Asbury, Aldo Ceccato and Johannes Kalitzke.
He has conducted among others: Südwestfälische Philharmonie, Junge Münchner Philharmonie, Danisch Radio Symphony, Ensemble Kaleidoskop Berlin, Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik, Reval Ensemble, I Musici Brucellensis and The New Fromm Players.

Pianist
Piano studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with Tom Ernst and Friedrich Gürtler and at the Hochschule für Musik Köln with Prof. Dr. Arbo Valdma. Performances in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Austria, U.K., Poland and Israel. Special Prize in the Karic Piano Competition in London in 2000.
